Miguel A. Lagunas Antoni Gasull Procesado de Sefial en Comunicaciones E.T.S:.I. Telecomunicacidn. Apdo. 30002 Barcelona, Spain. Starting from the classical procedure reported by Capon for power level estinietion from ML filters, the authors present how this method can be modifyed in order to obtain a power spectral density estimate. The basic idea is to compute the effective bandwidth of the ML filter, and normalize the power level estimate, at the output of a quadratic detector following the filter, with it. The effective bandwidth has been obtained by an equal area constraint criteria. Furthermore, the above mentioned estimate, we called NMLM, converges in the distributional sense to the true spectral power density. This suggest the use of new estimates, denoted in the text as q-MLM, which improves the mentioned convergence both in 1-0 as well as 2-D problems of SPA.

The Impact of the Spectral Filter Bandwidth on the Spectral Entanglement and Indistinguishability of Photon Pairs of SPDC Process
In this paper, we have investigated the dependence of the spectral entanglement and indistinguishability of photon pairs produced by the spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) procedure on the bandwidth of spectral filters used in the detection setup. The SPDC is a three-wave mixing process which occurs in a nonlinear crystal and generates entangled photon pairs and utilizes as one of th...
متن کاملMeasuring Sharp Spectral Edges to High Optical Density
Interference filters have improved over the years. Sharp spectral edges (> 1 db/nm) reach high optical density (OD > 8) in a few nm. In-situ optical monitoring to within 0.1 % error enables these levels of performance. Due to limitations related to f-number and resolution bandwidth, post-deposition testing in typical spectrophotometers cannot reveal the quality of today’s filters. Laser based m...
